Sketchbook Assignment for May 2012
Every month you are required to complete a sketchbook
assignment. This gives you a chance to practice your art skills; the more you
do something the better you become. This month you do not have a choice of
assignments as it is practice for our current unit. Sketchbooks are worth 15 %
of your final mark! Please keep them up to date. You can complete this
assignment during class time if you are finished early; if not they are
homework.
New definition
Drapery - a towel, shirt, or blanket draped around or on another
object to create lots of wrinkles.
Project- Practice
Shading
Try several
studies of drapery focusing on shapes of folds and creases and
the shadows that are created by them. Keep in mind the various ways of shading
we learned in class (hatching, smudging, cross hatching and stippling).
